Foote Diary: Tuesday January 1st, 1985

New Years Day. I left the Saunders dinner-&-music evening around 1:15, walked through Overton Square where the New Years Eve celebration was breaking up, then walked on home and went to bed. Slept till past 9; ate cereal for breakfast, ISA? arrivals; back in wash and cook?, squared away my desk while playing Chopin and Ravel on the cassette machine. Unseasonably warm weather left us in the night, following rain; turned up the thermos for the first time in a week. Brisk two mile walk; temperature in the mid-30’s. Played Lekuhent’s? Piano Trio 1, whose 35-minute span exactly fit the time it took to make my circle; then played the violin souata, OP. 262?, when I got back at 4:45.
Lean Cuisine, plus macaroni; followed by a slice of fruitcake. Called Walker in the evening; wished him and Bertha a Happy New Year.
Watched some junky TV in early evening but hat to give it up: sheer boredom. I wouldn’t be much good at this hue? Of life as a regular thing. Gwyn and Huger in Paris, are considering a side trip, possibly to Venice, but are still undecided. Hugs… had Morocco in mind, but was persuaded out of it. They’ve been eating in out-of the way restaurants and bistros, mostly exotic, including an Arab dinner ordered in advance.
