Replay of two Faure cassettes recorded yesterday. #1: piano quartets 1,2, and balade Braceuse?, Audante. #2: Elegie, piano quintet 2, piano trio, string quartet. All lovely, and a first class job of taping.

Called Republic, made seat reservation for NY tip; 10 A and B going up tomorrow, 8A and B coming back Sundays, nonsmoking, since I can’t smoke my pipe anyhow. Bank; cash $400 check for trip. Post Office; got 2 cent stamps needed for postal increase.

Bob Loomis called; dinner with him tomorrow night. I paid last month’s Algonquin bill. $810.30. Played Elgar, violin concertos and string quartet; will pick up the cello concertos when I get back. Finished The Beans. Liked it much better as it moved along. Wolf River monthly dinner, host Robert Gooch. Packed before leaving, all but suits. Home by 9:30.
