1985-11 (November)

November 1st, 1985 Post Office; returned, unsigned, two books and N.C. fan sent without request or warning. Gulf on Union; got Lauria gassed and oiled for Monday's trip to jackson and New Orleans, then (after the two day Ochsuer run-through) out to Covington to see [Bella?] and Walker. Called Bob Rosen to let him know I'll be out of touch all next week and part of the week following. Also wrote to Ken Brurns of Florentine Films, agreeing to work on the Civil War five-part documentary. Walked brisk half-mile; no music. Country Club again; cocktail party, given by Dr. John Ernest for Johnny, a sort of welcome to Shea clinic, of which (Ernest) has been a member for ten years. Home around 10.

November 2nd, 1985 Cereal breakfast. In morning played (replayed) first half of video cassette "Celeste," second half in afternoon. Liked it even better second time around. Walked 2 1/2 in forty minutes; played Cesar Frauck quartet, which was on soundtrack of "Celeste." Got into it further than before, despite previous analyses and much study of the score. Avery arrived for weekend visit; also Johnny's fiancee Debbie Lougacre. Mary called (thankgod) to say she'll definitely be here all next week while we are gone. Holloween party at Wendy and Allen's- an annual event. Lots of children and their parents, all in costume. Home by 9, with Avery.

November 3rd, 1985 Up at 7:30; cereal, then croissant. Rye bread and peanut butter for lunch preceding Brinkley Report. Selected maps and tapes for trip; put them in dash pocket of Lauria, ready for tommorow's drive to Jacksonm then next day to New Orleans 4 Ochsuer. Walked 2 1/2; Brahms' piano concerto 2. Avery left at 4:30, New Orleans bound. Early to bed; asleep just past 11.

November 4th, 1985 Up at 6:30: leaving-day. Made coffee; ate breakfast when Mary, thank god, arrived at 11. Bank; wired $600 to Hugs- additional money for three-week Tokyo trip. All ready to leave for New Orleans by 9 oclock. Left at 10; arrived Jackson, checked into Holiday Inn at 3pm. Large barbeque-ribs dinner.

November 5th, 1985 Left Jackson at 10 a.m.; arrived Ochsuer, Brent house, 2 p.m. Late lunch at pascal's [Mannale?]; early to bed in preperation for tommorows arrival checkup, gastro-intestinal as well as cardiac.
