31 Sun—1st after Christmas
1 Jan. Mon—Bank Holiday (Scotland) Circumcision cold day Dog Licences and King's Taxes due Helped Mummy all the morning getting ready for the party in evening. The Gimberts Ann. Marion, Dave Colin Deny Bill and Betty came Had a gorgeous time
Gordon's Birthday 2 Tues Quite cold day. Did not get up until dinner time. Did all my washing in the afternoon Dave Colin Betty and Kay - all came in to supper Bill was on duty all night
3 Wed Not quite so cold Dave & Colin took Janet & I to Cambridge for the day. We went by early bus. did shopping in morning, went to pictures in afternoon & saw Greenwitch Village Missed one bus home & had to wait for

1945 31 Days JANUARY
4 Th Dave & Colin went on 48 hr pass Very very cold Snowed a little in the afternoon. Went to Ely in the morning with Mummy Took dress material to Mrs Moynihans. Wrote letters in the afternoon Read all the evening No one came in.
5 Fri—Dividends on Consols due Still quite cold, but thawed. Helped Mummy all the morning Janet & I did the washing and cleaned our bedrooms. Bill was here all the afternoon Wrote four letters Bill washed my hair in evening. Gordon Mitchel came in.
Judy's Birthday 6 Sat—Epiphany Twelfth Day * (Moon's last quarter 12.47 p.m. Still cold. Roads very bad. Helped Mummy all the morning.. Did the veges Read in the afternoon Did a lot of mending and darning in the evening. Bill on duty at night.

JANUARY 1ST Month 1945
Ted's birthday 7 Sun—1st after Epiphany Old Christmas Day Very cold day snowed [...] in afternoon. Went to Sunday School [...] and taught Primary. Went A. S. [...] again in afternoon Went to Chapel in evening. Daddy preached Bill read lessons. George Phan & Arthur Dawson (black) from British Guiana came in, also Colin, Gordon & Eric.
8 Mon—Plough Monday Very cold day. Snow showers during day. Helped Mummy all the morning cleaned the lounge. Read all the afternoon. Had fire in lounge, Colin, Dave Bill, Gordon and George Shand came in & we played games. Colin stayed the night.
9 Tues Colin posted Bill went to [...]Snowed quite a lot during the day. About 4". Did not do much in morning. Had a wizard snowball fight with Bill in the dinner hour. Also one with Dave in afternoon. Got things ready for school in evening.
10 Wed More snow. Started school again. Miss Tilly & Miss Baird away. Did nothing first two lessons After. Break had lessons as usual. Bruce George & Arthur from B. G. came in in evening

11 Th Thawing all day. Read a library book during free lessons Biology in afternoon not [?]did not go to bible class in evening George Phang, Gordon, Eric & Allan came
12 Fri Snow still thawing. Scripture lessons quite interesting. Did turning out at break. Played skipping and french rounders instead of hockey. Marion came and stayed the night. Gordon came in in evening.
13 Sat Not quite so cold. Went to Sutton in morning in did all the errands. Cleaned the bathroom after dinner. Had a bath, Sunday School treat. Had a good time. Bill came in time for some of the games. Mr & Mrs Hump came in Memo evening but we missed them. Maureen ill in hospital. Bruce came in too.

JANUARY 1ST Month 1945
14 Sun—2nd after Epiphany New Moon 5.6 a.m. Quite cold Went to S. School in morning. Jimmie took it, I acted as chairman. Taught Primary. Learnt history in afternoon Went to Chapel in evening George Phang, Bill and Bruce came with us.
15 Mon Bill's day off Not quite so cold. Did practice biology. Had free lesson on my own [] history. Had to draw a wall panel in art. Janet & I went with Bill to see Going My Way with Bing Crosby. Very good.
16 Tues Didn't get very much work done in any of my five free lessons. Was very tired in evening. Tried to learn history notes. Bill & Ted were in. Mummy went to Miss Vye's for evening
17 Wed Not very cold during day but very cold in evening. Started [painting?] in art. Had a terrible history test in afternoon. Mummy & I went to the flicks with Bill & Eric saw Mutiny on the Bounty. B
