Monday May 18th 1846
Light winds and moderate weather with light rain and fog
Nothing in sight course west by N takes in sail and lying to
This night standing quarter weather so ends this Day Lat Long

Wind N West blowing fresh made sail at 5 o' clock this morning
M. 8 this morning all taken in again Lying to under fore and [muisd?]
[Hoen?] our [anker?] and fore topmost staysail at 4 PM set maintopsail

Steering by the wind Hump and finbacks around us all this day
Lowered at 1 o clock P M for a hump back whale So ends all the 24 hours
