Began with Strong winds & thick weather
at daylight in the morning set Top Sails &
Steered to the N ward soon raised a whale
[lowered] and gave chase but the weather
Increasing did not get hold [came] on board
& took in sail the Columbia and [Washington]
in sight standing to the E ward middle &
latter part the wind [blows] a gale at 11 A M
put out the fires latter part hands Employed
in scraping bone So Goes all well Lat 33:10

Wednesday the 30 th

The day began with a gale from the Sth W
with frequent rain squalls at 9 A M set
Top sails double reefed & steered to the N ward
by the wind middle & latter part weather
moderate set Top Gallant sails & steered N saw
a number of humpbacks but no whales so remains

Thursday the 31 fst

Throughout this day light airs weather
Pleasant Ship under all sail saw a whale &
chased but without success So Goes the

Began with Calm weather which continued
through the day Saw large quantities of birds &
finback all hands Employed in sundry
jobs as occassion required boatsteers in
