at 7 A M saw 1 whale bound W S W
middle & latter part light airs from
the Sth W ward Ship under all sail
steered to the Sth ward by the wind
Saw 1 Ship & 2 finbacks at sun set
steered S E stand hole watches So remains
Lat Obsd 33:00 Long 9:00

Sunday the 3 thd

Began with light breezes from about
Sth Ship under all sail at sun rise
steered N N E saw 1 whale bound
quick to the Sth W ward [lowered] &
gave chase but with out success latter
part steered E under double reefed Top [sail?]
saw large Gams of hump backs but no
whales the day being the Sabbath no
labour done more than necessity required
at sun set took in sail & lay by So Goes

Monday the 4th

Through out this day the wind blows
a gale from the Sth ward lay by at 4
P M spoke with the [Heroine?] of
Fairhaven with 13 whales do [also] the
the Maryland of Havre with 4
whale heard from Ship American
W Jones of Sag Harbor with 8 whales
at sun set the gale rather abates
So remains Lat Obsd 33:00
