Throughout this day light airs Ship under
all sail at 9 AM Saw 1 whale [lowered] 2 boats
& gave chase but did not strike at noon
saw a great many spouts to the W ward
but could not ascertain what they they
were [lowered] two boats & pulled to them
but they proved to be hump backs
at sun set calm one Ship in sight Saw her
take a whale at [8 o'clock] a small breeze
from the Sth ward Steered W S W by
the wind stand half watches So Goes
Lat Obsd 33:20 Long 9:30 East

Saturday the 9th

Began with light breezes which continued
through the day saw several whales
and chased hard struck two in the
course of the day but lost [both] of them
drew from one and the other staved
the boat at sun set furled Top Sails
and lay by So Ends Lat Obsd 33:40
Longitude 9:00

Sunday the 10 th

light breezes throughout the day at
sun rise in the morning set all sail soon
raised whales [lowered] & gave chase but
could not get hold Saw several whales
in the course of the day but found
them very wild at sun set furled
Top Sails & head to the W ward So
goes Lat Obsd 33:50 Long 8:25
