daylight set Top Sails & Steered to the
N E ward soon raised a whale [lowered] soon
got fast & got [run?] away with
[came] a br and went to stowing down
middle part the weather about the
the same latter part some rain
Saw large quantities of fin backs
but no whales So Goes all well

Friday the 15th

Throughout this day strong winds from
the W ward at 6 A M set Top Sails &
steered to the E ward saw several
whales bound to the Sth W ward chased
but without success at noon steered
S S E saw aplenty of whales &
chased hard but got none at sun set
took in sail & lay by So Ends the
day Lat Obsd 34:10 Long 6:30

Saturday the 16 th

Began with a Gale from a bout W
lay by middle part more moderate
at 10 A M set our Top sails double reefed
& steered to the N ward by the wind
Saw several whales in course of the
the day & chased hard at length
struck & killed 1 & got the hawser
to the ship but lost her at last
double reefed our Top sails & stood
Each way through the [night] the day
Ends with a Gale So goes Lat 33:50
