Began with rough weather together with
which continued through the day lay
by first part stand to the W ward
at 1 P M wind at N wore Ship to the
E ward this day stowed 85 brls [barrels] of Oil saw
one dead whale but of no importance so
passed the day Lat Obsd 37: 55 Long 3:45

Monday the 2 ond

Began with a Gale from the W ward
but [presently] began to abate at 7 A M
set Top sails & steered to the N ward
Spoke with Brig Tory of London bound
to the moritees [Mauritius?] at 10 o'clock raised whales
chased several times in course of the day
but got nothing at sun set took in
sail with heavy hearts So remains

Tuesday the 3 th

Throughout this day light breezes from the
Sth W ward at daylight in the morning
made all sail & steered to the N ward
soon raised a whale [lowered] & chased darted
but to no affect [came] a br wore
Ship & got breakfast at 10 o'clock
raised more whales [lowered] our boats
soon got just two 2 which we killed &
took alongside at 4 P M began to cut
at sun set Finished cutting one of them
& began to boil chained the other &
let her lay through the [night] So
remains Lat Obsd 37:15 Long 4:00
