Thursday the 21st November 1833

Began with light breezes from the N and
and continued the same through the day
at 6 in the morning set Top Gallant
sails wore ship & steered to the E ward
by the wind at 10 saw 2 whales bound
quick to the Sth, Squared our yards &
gave them chase with the Ship at
noon [came] up with them [lowered] & struck
one of them but soon drew [came] a
br filled away & chased the other
until sun set raised 2 ships [both]
a cutting So goes lay by Lat Obsd
36:13 Long [7:00?]

Friday the 22 ond

The day began with rough weather lay by
middle & latter part light breezes at 10
A M made sail & steered to the N ward
one Ship in sight a boiling at 2 P M
raised two whales [lowered] 2 boats soon
got fast Killed the whale & took her
alongside at 5 o'clock began to cut &
after cutting about one half of her the
piece tore off & hawser parted & we lost
the remainder of her hard fortune So
Ends the day Lat Obsd 36:13 Long 7:50

Saturday the 23 thd

Commenced with a light breeze from
about East at 1 [first] daylight set all sail
and steered to the Sth W ward saw
one Ship lying by supposed there was
trouble on board latter part Fresh
winds from the N ward at sun set
Furled Top Gallant Sails & steered to the W
ward so remains Lat 36:40 Long 5:35
