Sunday the 24 th November 1833
The day began with strong winds from the
N ward & thick fog steered to the W ward by
the wind at 10 o'clock saw two whales [lowered] &
chased in the fog but found them wild
at noon took in sail at 2 PM finished
boiling latter part hard rain saw a great
many hump backs but no whales at sun
set calm & a great swell furled our fore
sail So Ends the day no observations

Monday the 25 th
moderate weather throughout the day
at daylight in the morning made sail &
steered to the N ward soon raised whales
[lowered] & gave chase but without success
[came] on board wore Ship & steered to
the Sth ward at 9 raised a whale which
we killed and cut in saw several whales
in course of the day but found shy
one ship to the leeward a cutting, supposed
her to be the vessel of Newburg, at sun set
Furled top Sails & started the fire So remains

Tuesday the 26 th
Began with fine weather which continued
through the day at 6 A M set all sail &
steered to the Sth W ward saw several whales
[lowered] soon got fast & the Iron [came] out
but as good luck would have it we after
wards struck the same whale & saved her
at sun set finished cutting took in sail
Started the fires So Goes Lat Obsd 37:12
