Wednesday 27th February 1850 Began with fair weather and strong wind from N West Ship under Double Reefed Top sails steering SW Latter part had nearly the same weather Tacked Ship at 8 O[']clock SW saw two Ships boath [BOTH] by the wind watch Employed Mending sails Cooper makeing [MAKING] Spiles In Latitude 57..20 Longitude 67..00

Thursday 28th The Day began with tolerable fair weather and strong wind from W by North at 1 O[']clock PM Tacked Ship carry single Reefed Top Sails saw A Brig standing to the North Middle and Last parts had a gale lay by head SW by South so ends the Last Day of Winter In Latitude 58..02 South Longitude 67..26 West

Friday March 1st 1850 Commenced A gale from W and a greate [GREAT] swell from the same way lay under a clost [CLOSED] Reefed Main Top sail head SSW at 3 O[']Clock PM the wind shifted suddenly to East S East made sail and and steered West per Compass two Ships in sight boath [BOTH] steering the same way Last part had fair weat[HER] and light wind from SW Ship under all sail Larbord [LARBOARD] watch watch variously employed In Latitude 57..36 Longitude 68.10

Saturday March 2ond Began with pleasant weather and light wind from SW Ship under all sail steering N West saw[?] Ship to the leeward steering the same way Last part had variable wind and verry [VERY] squally took in and made sail between squalls at 2 AM Made Diego Ramirez bearing N West per Compass saw 5 Ships all working to the westward but one and that steering ENEast at noon the Land bore NNW Distance 20 Miles

Sunday 3th [RD] Throughout this Day had squally disagreeable weather the wind from SWd [SOUTHWARD] to NWd [NORTHWARD] carry all prudent sail working to the Westward saw a large Ship steering ESE the Day being the sabbath no labour [LABOR] done Onboard the Day so ends In Lat [LATITUDE] 56..46 Longitude 70..25

Monday 4th The Day began with strong wind from South And squally ship under all sail steering WNW at 2 PM lored [LOWERED] a Boat and Put Letters Onboard of Ship Hericola[?] from Sidney [SYDNEY] Bound to London Latter part had the wind from N West steering to the SW at 6 AM the Main Land [MAINLAND] in sight Lat [LATITUDE] by Obs [OBSERVATION] 55..38 Longitude 73..00

Tuesday 5th Throughout this Day had a gale from NW and Rain Close Reef and stand to the SW nothing remarkable occured [OCCURRED] Onboard In Latitude 56..20 Longitude 73..00

Thursday 7th Commenced with light wind from North and some Rain Ship under all sail steering WNW One sail In sight steering the same way Last part had strong wind from the same way steer the same Course nothing of a consequence done Onboard no Observation supposed Latitude 55..40 Longitude 74..30

Friday 8th Began with strong wind from Nth [NORTH] and Rainy steer to the westward at 6 PM the wind shifted suddenly to West and Blew a gale wore Ship and Double Reefed Last part had heavy weather no Obs [OBSERVATION] Latitude 54..40 pen [UNREADABLE] Longitude 74..45

Saturday 9th Began with steady wind from West and Rain at 6 PM wore ship at 9 took a heavy squall from SSW Broke our Main yard in the Slings Last part had a heavy gale from South West at 9 AM split the fore sail on bent [UNBENT?] and bent another sent down the Main yard and Commenced fitting another In Latitude 53..52 Longitude 75..50

Sunday March 10th 1850 Commenced with A heavy gale from S West and verry [VERY] squally heed [HEAD] to the southward at 4 PM sent up the Main yard the Land in sight Dist [DISTANCE] 30 Miles Middle rather more moderate at sunset wore ship and set the Main Top Sail close reefed Last part quite Moderate carry single Reefed Top sails steer to the NW close hauled so ends In Latitude 53..20 Longitude 76..26

Monday 11th Commenced with plesant [PLEASANT] weather and light wind from W Ship under all sail steering NNW Middle part had the wind NNW wore ship last part nearly the same nothing in sight but water the watch variously employed In Latitude 52..59 Longitude 77..00

Tuesday 12th Began with Light from NW and Rain Ship under all sail steering to the East close hauled at 3 PM Tack Ship Middle part had variable wind and various sorts of weather Ship under all sail working to the N West A Schooner in Sight standing the same way In Latitude 51..40 Longitude 77..40

Wednesday 13th Throughout this Day had light baffling wind from the western board[?] and plesant [PLEASANT] carry all sail steer each way by the wind A Schooner in sight In Latitude 51..11 Longitude 77..30

Friday 15th Throughout this Day had a gale from NW to WSW and nasty weather carry all the sail we can and steer each way by the wind nothing in sight but but water the day ends In Latitude 49..45 Longitude 77..40

Saturday 16th All this Day had a gal[E] from N West attended Hale [HAIL] Rain Lightning and snow steer to the N East the principal part of the Day nothing of consequence done onboard so ends In Latitude 49..15 Longitude 77..15

Sunday 17th Throughout this Day had a gale from NE and SW and Rain and Snow carry all Prudent sail to hold on the day being the sabbath no Labour [LABOR] of consequence done Onboard Lat [LATITUDE] 49..05 Long [LONGITUDE] 77..02

Monday 18th Began with a gale from SW and Rain Ship under close reefed Top sails steering WNWest Middle and Last parts had a moderate gale from NW steer to the SW at 9 AM raised two whales and chased without success In Latitude 48..20 Longitude 66..40
