Sunday Jan [JANUARY] 22nd 1865

Begins with moderate winds and fine weather from N. Mid and latter part[S] much the same. Thermometer standing at 31 below.

Monday Jan [JANUARY] 23rd

Begins with a strong breeze from NNE and very fine weather. Latter part strong NE winds and thick cloudy weather. Thermometer standing at 14 below.

Tuesday Jan [JANUARY] 24th

Begins with a strong gale from NE and thick cloudy weather. I have been imployed [EMPLOYED] through the day in sewing a door mat. Latter part more pleasant. Wind still to the NE. Thermometer standing at 20 below.

Wednesday Jan [JANUARY] 25th

Begins with strong winds from NNE and cloudy weather. In the evening all hands on board the Antelope to a dance. Latter part strong winds from NNE. Thermometer standing at 14 below.

Thursday Jan [JANUARY] 26th

Begins with strong winds from NNE. Latter part very fine weather. Wind from NW. In the morning a party of natives left the ships on a seal hunt. Thermometer standing at 7 below.

Friday Jan [JANUARY] 27th

Begins with light airs from N. At 4 PM natives returned to the ships with a very large seal. Latter part Mr Miller and myself started started for the floe edge a sealing. At noon we had traveled about 8 miles from the ships. Thermometer standing at 15 below.
