Journal of a voyage in the Ship Levant of Sag Harbor found on a wha ling Cruis J Mercator Cooper is Master

Thursday the 7th of August 1851 at half past 9 AM; joined the ship in gardeners bay and then weighed Anchor and set all Sail to a pleasant breze from South-by West at hald past 70 we pafsed gardners point at 12 and Montock bore sotuh West first 4 miles

ther 70 Friday the 8th of August
at 2 Clouday and hazy several Sails in sight at 2 AM wind from SSW set the topmast steering sail at 8'ck
Lat 40.04 the watch imployed fiting the boats
Long 59.40 for whaleing 9 AM Green watter at 11
ther 73 Saturday the 9th of August These 24 hours Commences with pleasant brezes from South
Lat 39.39 W to WSW wroken clouds
Long 55.57 through out the 24 hours
imployed in filing the boats

ther 75 Sunday the 10th of Aug 1851
fresh brezes from WSW and then South W at 9 PM squally and some rain
Lat 49.18 and lightning took in the lower leeway
Long 52.40 sail at 10 took in the tops sail and
then mainsail
