fly jib [guy?]. About 10 o clock in the fore noon the
men get the mast head. Raise a gam of black fish.
Lowered and got 4 of them. So end.

Saturday Febuary 1
This day had a light wind. Steering W by S.
This day we tried out the blubber and put the oil
into the cooler. We cleaned up the deck. So ends.

Sunday 2 Feb
This day had a light wind. Steering NW by W.
Hands employd in working ship. About 5 o clock in the
after noon raise a school of black fish. We lowered away
the boats and chaset but no success. So ends.

Monday 3 Feb
This day had a fair wind. Steering WNW. All hands
employd in mending sail and bending on a foresail.
About 6 o clock in the after noon we raise a whale. We
hove back for the whale but did not see him no more.
We brace foreward again. So ends this day. Phenix SFC

Tuesday Feb 4
This day had a fair wind Steering NW by W.
The larboard watch employd in coilling tow line in the tubs.
Starboard watch employd in makeing pennents. So ends.

Wenesday Feb 5
This day had a light breeze. Steering NW. The boats
steerers employd in dividing iron poles. In the after noon
the larboard watch employd in painting the boats
on the scaffold. So ends.
