My dear Bartsch
As you know, Dr. Davenport is much interested
in your study of the anatomy of hybrid cerions, but he
has suggested that it might be important to have dissections
made of from five to ten of each of the parental
forms used in hybridization in order to obtain information
on the variation and average condition of the
parental species. He thinks that if some of your
studies were made on the "pure species" the number of
dissections on hybrids might be reduced.
We shall be glad to have your comments on Dr.
Davenport's suggestions, particularly with relation to
your proposal of October 9 for an appropriation of $350
with which to underatke further dissection of cerions
in order to complete your proposed report on changes of
internal anatomy due to hybridization.
I shall be in New York for the rest of this week,
but perhaps we could have lunch together some day next
week for discussion of a number of subjects of mutual interest.
Would such a program be agreeable to you?
Sincerely yours
G:C
