Mother's Declaration for Pension State of New York County of Onondaga On this 15 day of August 1864, personally appeared before me, a ? of a Court of Record, in the County and State aforesaid, Eliza Green a resident of Cicero County of Onondaga and State of New York aged 49 years, who, being duly sworn, makes the following declaration, in order to obtain the benefit of the act of Congress approved July 14, 1862. That she is the widow of Bower Green deceased, and mother of Jarrel Green who was private in Company D commanded by Capt. Devendorf in the 110 Regiment of New York Volunteers, in the war of 1861 and who died or was killed in the service aforesaid, at Fort Jefferson in the State of Florida on or about the 19 day of 1864, of a fever That her said son, upon whom she was wholly or in part dependent for support, left no widow, or minor child under sixteen years of age; and that she was married to said Bower at ?? in the State of New York on or about the 15 day of March , 1829, by Esq Huntley , a J. P.; that she knows no record evidence of said marriage that her husband died on or about the 22 day of April, 1851, and that she still remains a widow; that she has not in any way been engaged in, or aided or abetted the rebellion in the United Sates; and that she is not in the receipt of a pension under the second section of the aforesaid act, or under any other act. She hereby appoints Darius Forbes, General Claim Agentof the United States Sanitary Commission, or his successor in office, of Washington, D.C., her lawful attorney,and authorizes him to present and prosecute this claim, and tor eceive and receipt for any orders or certificates that may be issued in satisfaction thereof. My Post Office Address is as follows: Cicero, Onondaga county , N. Y. Eliza ? Green ??? Also personally appeared before me, Martin L. Green and John Burt residents of Cicero County of Onondaga and States of New York to me well known as credible persons, who, being duly sworn, declare that they were present and saw said applicant sign her name to the foregoing declaration, and they believe, from the appearance of the applicant and their acquaintance with her,that she is the identical person she represents herself to be, and know that she was recognised by said Bowen as his lawful wife, and that she was so recognised by the community in which they resided; and that they have no interest, direct, or indirect, in the prosecution of this claim. Martin L. Green John Burt Swornmto and subscribed before me, this 15 day of August 1864, and I hereby certify that I have no interest, direct or indirect, in the prosecution of this claim. E. J. Sir: I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt from your Office of application for Pension No. 62.569, and to return it herewith, with such information as is furnished by the files of this Office. It appears from the Rolls on file in this Office, that James Green was enrolled on the 9th day of August, 1862, at Hastings N. Y. in Co. D, 110th Regiment of New York Volunteers, to serve Three years, or during the war, and mustered into services as a Private on the 25th day of August, 1862, at Oswego N. Y., in Co. D, 110th Regiment of New York Volunteers, to serve 3 years, or during the war. On the Muster Roll of Co. D of that Regiment, for the months of March and April, 1864, he is reported "died in Regimental Hospital Mar. 20th 1864. Cause of death not stated.
