My dear Rosetta:
I thank you for your full note and for the assurance that you will make my July visit pleasant. I hardly needed such an assurance for you always do make my visits as pleasant as you can. Hattie continues to will her way. She has been several days this week with Lewis & Amelia and going to school to Mrs [Shimm?]. I shall probably bring her here tomorrow. Virginias Mother from Boston came down upon us Sunday and was a great surprise. All the Douglass's dined here that day and had a good time to all appearance. Tell Nathan that I duly received his letter. We are now in the thick of warm weather. Strawberries are about gone. Bad news from Rochester at this Season does not surpise me. I am sorry that Mary Ann has lost her trunk. How strange it is that people are so negligent in checking Baggage. I shall be in Rochester on the 18th or 19th July. Love to All, Your father,
