Rochester: Sept 17th 1866.

My dear Hinton:

Your note fist to hand is like you. The idea of having a few black Delegates at Pittsburgh among the soldiers and sailors is excellent. I wish I could help you to accomplish it but I cannot. I am just leaving home—I may meet you in Pittsburgh. My two sons are a way off in Colorado—It would greatly please me, could either of them be present at that Convention. A thousand thanks for the many kind words you said for me. Hoping some day to have the means have the means—or opportunity—to reciprocate your kindness. I am [illegible] Sir, Very truly yours
