Dear Father

It is the wish of every body here, that you will come to Washington, on the occasion of the visit of the "Pythians," of Philadelphia.

I received your letter stating that you hoped to be with us on that occasion, and also have complied with your request regarding the $5.00.

I have heard from the boys since writing to you, Lewis is up in the mountains looking after affairs connected with their mining Company. Fred writes encouragingly of matters generally in Colorado.

I dont understand in what way those people you have at home are related to you, is it that Mr. Downs is your half brother? From what I have heard of their conduct, I should be afraid even to have them in the same neighborhood, and
