Dear Sir:

I much regret my inability to lay my hand before the paper containing a notice of the examination of applicants for the Bar, conducted in part by yourself. Though a newspaper man myself, I am sorry to say there is little reverence for newspapers in my house. The paper containing my letter is probably destroyed. A line to Mr Johnson will probably bring you one. I will drop him a line and request him to send it if he has it to your address. I hardly need say to you, Sir, that I thought your part of the examination was searching, thorough, and impartial for anything else would have been inconsistent with your character as a Lawyer—
