Description
Isaac Rolls (c. 1799-?) was a free black cab driver, or hackman, in Baltimore at the time of Douglass's flight from slavery. Until 1870 the U.S. Census recorded his name as "Isaac Roles." He was married to Lucretia Johnson, 1840 U.S. Census, Maryland, Baltimore County, 13; 1860 U.S. Census, Maryland, Baltimore County, 268; 1870 U.S. Census, Maryland, Baltimore County, 220.
