MEREDIAN, Aug. 24th, 1853

TO FREDERICK DOUGLASS: DEAR SIR:—

Enclosed is $20 for your paper, which I received. I wish you to stop stending it to me when the time expires, for which this money pays. Not because of any dissatisfactcion do I make this request, for I bid you God speed in your arduous labors in behalf of our crushed brethren and sisters; but it is because I am unable to pay for it. According to the bill I received from you, dated March 31, my current year will expire Sept. 31.

We most sincerely thank our friend for his words of encouragement, and will comply with his request when he informs us of his NAME.—F. D.
