Rochester, U.S., Oct. 13, 1856.

The paper has done comparatively nothing towards supporting itself of late; as you will see by the subn. list—I am truly concerned for its fate and am almost prepared to see it die. Its death would be lamentable, but it must not be permitted to ruin me, and its continuance would leave me free with a hand to work and a house to shelter me.—In any event I shall hold on for the present.
