Rochester July 24. 1863.

My dear Sir:

I have your note of July 23d. requesting reliable information respecting the number and condition of the colored refugees in Canada. The best I can do in answer to your inquiry is to refer you to Rev. Hiram Wilson, St. Catherine's. Mr. Wilson has lived in Canada during the last seventy-five years; I should think him thoroughly acquainted with the general condition of the colored people in that country, especially as he has acted as a Missionary among them. I would further refer you to Rev. Mr. King of Buxton settlement. I think from one or the other, or both you will get the information you need.

Truly yours.
