My dear Douglass,

Your welcome letter finds me somewhat sick with a sore throat. I rejoice in your deep interest in the arming of the black man. They will fight their way to respect & to equal rights.

The $200 that I promised toward defraying the expense of raising as a Colored Company I herewith enclose to you.

Can you not visit me ere long? There are a few colored young men here whom I wish to serve in your Company. I am glad to know that your Charles goes into it—
