A NEW BOOK FOR SABBATH SCHOOLS.

On Thursday evening, Nov. 8th, 1855, the Congregational Church of Putnam, Windham county, Conn., unanimously adopted the following preamble and resolution:—

"As we desire to promote the Anti-Slavery cause by the presentation of practical Christianity in direct opposition to Slavery, and as we also wish to avail ourselves of a most powerful influence to arouse the youthful mind to vigorous exertions to obtain useful knowledge, and to form a noble and energetic, and a stable character; therefore,

Resolved, That we place in our Sabbath School Library a copy of the book written by Frederick Douglass, of Rochester, N. Y., entitled, "MY BONDAGE, AND MY FREEDOM."

J. R. JOHNSON.

PUTNAM, Ct., Nov. 9th, 1855.
