Frederick Douglass,
My dear Friend,
On the 23d Feb. I recd a letter from John Smith, of Glasgow enclosing a draft [a London?] for £10.10.0 "in settlements of duty charged on the Bazaar goods forwarded to Rochester." This draft for produced $50.86. March 3d I wrote a Mr. Smith that I had paid you the money as you had seen [breakd?] me the amount of duties, and the same day I made a [memo?] that I had another [yet?] you to [dear a?] me at one day's [illegible] for [illegible]. You have not drawn. Did you receive my letter? If you have not it is probable that I [illegible] it or [illegible] to [omit?] it. However that may be you can now draw (if you have not already) for said [illegible] at 1 day's [sight?] on me at 48, Beekman St. New York
Truly yours
Lewis Tappan
