My dear Sir

It is very mysterious, what has become of my letter. It was posted Feb. 20th. Of course your post office authorities know nothing about it, or you would have heard. Should it by any mystereous chance turn up, please to return that draft to me, as I have stopped the payment of it at the bank, and send you another drawn in my own name, to avoid confusion. I have endorsed it, to be payable to your order.

Please send a line by next post to say that it has arrived safely. Any particulars about yourself or your family will be very welcome to us. I hope in a few days to send you an Inquirer containing extracts from your letter.

Believe me, very faithfully yrs

Russell L. Carpenter

Fr. Douglass Esqr.
