At the General Court martial whereof Colo Strong was president held on the 4th and continued by adjournment unti the 8 Instant inclusive
Lieutenant Benjamin Strother was tried when the following specified charges was exhibited against him by Major John H Buell of the 2d SubLegion on the 3d Instant Viz)
1st for neglect of duty when on Guard the 2d of May Instant in suffering ten or twelve Soldiers to straggle from the guard at one time and at such a distance that they might be cut off by an enemy-
2d In suffering the then officer of the Day to approach your guard

in the Night without sending out a file of Men or demanding of me whether the Parole or Countersign after being haild by the Sentinal of the guard announcing Grand rounds -
2d Charge For an open violation of the General orders of the 16th Ultimo in appearing at the head of your guard when visited by me as Officer of the Day without your Uniform and with your Cappoach on, with the Knees of your broches unbotton'd and your Shoes unbuckled & down at the heels or slipshod & otherwise in dissheveled dress -
Lieut Strother pleads not Guilty-

Lieutenant Strother is not guilty of the 1st Charge exhibited against him, but find him guilty of the 2d Charge and sentence him to be reprimanded in General orders-
The second charge exhibited against Lieut Strother and of which the Court has found him guilty is more picturistic of a maniac than that of an Officer at the Head of his guard but as that Paroxism may now be over The Commander in Chief hereby orders Lieut Strother from his arrest in full confidence that he will feel the propriety in appearing
