favorably.

The literary exercises con-
sisted of the reading of an article
by Mrs Henry in the Southern
Journal: - "Property Rights of
Married Women in Kentucky".
Miss Beeler read an article by
Brs Dietrick: - "Women and the
Schools". Mrs Dubec read ex-
tracts from an article by Henry
Stanton: - English Women In Of-
fice". An original article was
read by Dr Cady - She says:- "Woman
suffrage is a demand by women of
broadminds and advanced ideas.
It is the all important subject of the day, from
being the necessity of the age. God created wom-
an to be the help meal of man. We do not
want to displace good men as long as they are
doing greater good than we could do; and we
hope to be led by the providence of God
into only these places where we can be housed,
pure and helpful. We are called "strong
minded", as though that strength were a
disgrace. - if she has been given a strong heart and
fine brain power, shall her neighbor say that it is
wrong for her to use these gifts, - Her sphere can
not be defined.
After the reading, the meeting adjourned.
