An Act

To regulate the admission of Physicians and Surgeons
to practice in this Territory.

Section 1st. Be it enacted by the Governor and Legislative
Council of the Territory of Florida, that from and after the passing
of this act, every person who may be desireous of practicing as a physician or
surgeon within this territory shall before he enters upon such practice or either
of them, file in the office of the clerk of the county court of the county therein
such practice may be indended to be pursued; a diploma granted to such intended
practitioner by some college or university, together with a certificate of the
moral character of such intended practitioner and in the event of such intended
practictioner having no diploma, he shall file in the office aforesaid
a cetificate of his having studied the science of physic or surgery for the term
of two years, either at a college, or under the auspices of a reputable physician
or surgeon, and any two of the Judges of the county court may at their discretion,
grant a license to such applicant to practice as aforesaid.

Section 2. And be it further enacted, That any person contravening
this act, shall on conviction be fined in a sum not exceeding five
hundred dollars, at the discretion of the court.
