Transcription Conventions
A full list of transcription conventions, as well as common abbreviations, special characters, and useful shortcuts, can be accessed on Folgerpedia. If you are not comfortable using tags, it's okay to skip them! A reviewer will add them for you.
- Spelling, punctuation, and capitalization: Use original spelling, punctuation, and capitalization.
- Line Breaks: Hit
return
once after each line ends. Two returns indicate a new entry/paragraph break. If a word breaks across a line, place the hyphen, equal sign, or other word splitting character in a soft break tag: <lb break="no"></lb> - Recipe titles and other headings: Wrap each heading, including recipe titles, in a headings tag (<head>To make bread</head>). Add an extra line break before and after each heading.
- Line fillers and dividers: Transcribe text only. Do not include lines that sometimes appear to divide sections, or characters repeated over and over to justify the line.
