A Receipt for the Dropsey.
(1)

Take Horehound, Harts tonge, Liverworth, Worm-
wood & Sorrill, of each a large handfull shred
them very small & put them in a pasty of Barely
meale, the pye must be very well closed & baked
as other pyes are, being baked take it out, And
haveing ready a stanne of 4 Gallons of new Ale
or new Strong beere, Cut the pye into little
peececes & put it into the Ale or new Beere
& Cover it close & let it worke and after 2 or 3
dayes drink of it as much as you will, Cheifly a
great draught fastinge in the morninge & alsoe
at night goeinge to bed, begin to drink it in
the first Quarter of the Moone, & soe drink it
till the Moone be at the full. If you keep an
extrordinary ^& temperate dyett drinkinge nothinge
else it will likely cure the Dropsey in 3 weekes,
But to make this more perfect put into the
Stanne of Ale or Beere a Quarter of an ounce
of the salt of Wormewood:
Probatum est.
