London Ianuary 24th 1692

on sunday morning about 3 a Clock 6 men broke open the house of the Late Lord Dartmouth on Blackheath bound and gagged all the servants and Carryed away to the value of 1500li in plate Iewells, Rings, Gold Watches, small armes & the poate and the Arms had his Lordshipps Coat of Armes engraven thereon a further account: will be given in the next Thursdayes Gazett

on Saturday night [14o Lamb] the Goldsmith in Lumbard street was sett upon in his Coach near Acton by 5 highwaymen 2 of whom he shott dead with his Blunderbuss and Mortally wounded a 3d himself being wounded in the hand and Arm one of the highwaymen Lyes dead on the place the other they remounted and Carryed off tis said that one of them and his horse are both known whereby tis believed a discovery of the rest will be made.

Portsmouth 22d. Ianuary yesterday were shipped off from hence above 300 ffrom a prisoner of warr for st Maloes the same day came in here the Isabella having on board Captain George Matthewes whose ship was taken by the ffrench and Carryed into Thoulon where he saith there will be Launched for this sum mers expedicion a ship 24 ffoot longe = then was the Royall Sun - a Gentleman Lately come from Brest also reports that the french ffleet there are ready to put to Sea.

Is come down to Newgate for the executing Whitney and the other highway Men but by reason the hangman is to burn the Conquering book and the Bishop of Salsburyes Letter to Morrow they are not to be executed till ffriday = the Lords this day also ordered the Conquering - book to be burned and made the following vote that the Aspersion of King - William and Queen Mary being King and Queen by Conquest

is highly Iniurious to their Maiesties and Inconsistent with the principles on which this Government is ffounded & tends to the subversion of the Rights of the people = the house of Commons haue been all this day in a Grand Committee upon the Bill to lay a further Impost upon divers Commodities and Went through the same and haue ordered it to be reported to morrow and afterwards will go upon wayes and Meanes further to supply the kingdome = on saturday last ffive high way men robbed 3 Gentlemen in sight of Tyburn of 400li value & threatned to burn the Gallowes before Whitney & the rest come to be Executed
