the faith that they owe him, that they go before the lord and ask that he maintains him through his court as his man: and they must go there and do what their peer required of them. And if the lord does not wish to make good on their request, they must and can say to the lord that they will do nothing for him until he has made good on the request; and they should tell him three times: and if he however, does not do otherwise, they can withhold their services until they had their request fulfilled.

XXXII. Those who cannot bear witness against Franks in the High Court are:
All those who are not of the la lei de Rome;
And all convicted;
And all purjerers;
And all those who have broken an oath;
And all defeated champions;
And all those who have renounced God;
And all those who have served in arms for Saracens or other non-believers against Christians, for more than one year and one day;
And those who are not born of a legal marriage;
And all slaves of whatever law [faith] that they may be;
And all those who have left a religious order, if they do not have a ruling from the church;
And all those who are stained with the aformentioned vices, they lose their voice in court, if one wishes to take it away.
