[Shamokin] 9Mo. 17th. 1760

Respected Friend,

On the 15h Current John Hatson came
in here & brought in a Gurnsey man who belong'd
to a [?] now on the Oswego lake & was taken about
3 Months since by the [Iscnch &] Indians from whome he
made his escape, & calling on French Margarets house
they defir'd him to say a few days & come here with
some of their Family, John brought down a string
of Wampum from [Cate] with a speech to the Governor
to acquaint him that the indisposition of her Family
had prevented her from playing sooner with his request
& with the assurance that she would bring them to [Phild?]
this fall; & to desire that no blame might laid upon
her for her [jiston?] carrying the white woman to
the allegany as it was not in her power to
pre vail with her to take her to Philade I have
now heard the [Grindstones] for Papunehal of Job Chilliway
& shall deliver them carefully, please to give my respects
to my Friend H.B.

From: thy Friend
