Hon City Council, Gentlemen. I have the honor to inform you that on August 6th, 1898, I recieved the resignation of H.P Shiel Sanitary officer of the city of Forth Worth, Captain Shiel having accepted other and more incrative employment. This being the hot season of they year I deemed it very important that the health department should have all neccessary attention, I therefore appinted Mr. Ben H. Shipp to fill the vacancy, pending action by your honorable body.

To the Hon mayor City Council, -

Gentlemen-

I herewith tender you my resignation as sanitary Officer for the city of Fort Worth. I'm servering my connection as an official of the city, I desire to express to your honorable body, my sincere thanks for the courteous and kindly treatment I have ever received at your hands and for the valuable assistance which from time to time, I have received from the Mayor and indivividual members of the city council, and the entire police department, see my efforts to establish and maintain a throrough sanitary system in our midst - Wishing each and all of you good health and continued prosprerity
