[letter]

The Honorable Mayor & Doard of Alderman:- Gentlemen:-

The building next to the corner of Fifteenth & Houston sts now occupied by Engine Co No. 3, was inspected and condened by the City Engineer. The agen, mr. S. M. Fry was notfied of the condition of said building, but refused to make the necessary repairs, but on Saturday Dec. 17 had five braces xxxxxxxxxxxx 12 in by 12 inches placed against the South wall. The next day a ten foot space dropped out of said wall. The Roof is in a very bad condition. There is no suitable building that I have been able to find yet, and am at a loss to know what to do.

I ascertained, however that temporary quarters can be secured in the Market house, provided the City will pay for the lumber necessary to make the floor and also the paritions. It will require 2 in. x 12 in. 24 feet long, for the floor anf 1 inch lumber for the partition.

I respectfully ask that some immediate steps be taken in the matter as the Men, horses and apparatus are in constant danger.
