JOHN B. HAWLEY, CONSULTING ENGINEER, MEMBER AMERICAN SOCIETY CIVIL ENGINEERS. MEMBER ENGINEERING ASSOCIATION OF THE SOUTH. CITY ENGINEER, FORT WORTH.

FORT WORTH, TEXAS April 15th 1904.

Hon. The Mayor and City Council, City.

Gentlemen:

In the matter of attached resolution of Ald. Newby, I have the honor to report:

That a proper culvert can be built of masonry and steel for about $250.00, and a proper brick gutter, with easy curve, for about $220.00.

Property owners are very desirous of a culvert instead of gutter, in which opinion I concur.

Respectfully, John B. Hawley City Engineer.

JOHN B. HAWLEY, CONSULTING ENGINEER, MEMBER AMERICAN SOCIETY CIVIL ENGINEERS. MEMBER ENGINEERING ASSOCIATION OF THE SOUTH. CITY ENGINEER, FORT WORTH.

FORT WORTH, TEXAS, Feb. 6th 1904.

Hon. Henry W. Holloway, Care Turner & Dingee, City.

Dear Mr. Holloway:

Capt. Scoble and I have discovered that we can connect the larger part of the block you live in, as well as the greater part of 102 & 103, to the sewer in alley just west of you, running between 5th and 7th Sts.

This will entail a very large expense on the City, as the majority of the work will have to be laid in solid rock, at depths varying from one to five feet. (You know its all rock west of you.)

Please get the consent of all property owners to right of way for the work, and Capt. Scoble and I will endeavor to proceed with the work at once.

Since you are very much more familiar with Right of Way matters than the writer, I will depend on you to have proper form submitted to the owners.

We will want to follow, approximately, the middle line of the block; that is, the middle line between 5th and 7th.

Sincerely yours, John B. Hawley City Engineer.
