[emblem of Universal Exposition]

OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT

(T. H.)

St. Louis, Mo., August 29, 1904.

Dear Sir:

This will be presented to you in person by Mr. Theodore Hardee, Assistant to the Secretary, a representative of the Exposition, who visit your city for a conference with you on the subject of "Texas Week" at the Louisiana Purchase Exposition.

Governor Lanham has been requested to issue a proclamation announcing that the week of September 11th has been designated as "Texas Week" and the splendid showing made by Texas in this great International Exposition prompts me to suggest that every loyal so of Texas who can conveniently do so, should lay aside his regular avocation during that week and come to St. Louis to do honor to his native state.

Mr. Hardee is empowered to arrange for a special day for your city during "Texas Week". The railroads have granted round trip rates of about one cent per mile from all Texas points. Any courtesies shown Mr. Hardee will be appreciated.

Yours very truly, [signed] D. R. Francis President.

TO His Honor the Mayor, Fort Worth, Texas.
