Fort Worth, Texas., April 11, 1906.

To John T. Montgomery, City Secretary of City of Fort Worth,

Dear Sir:

We hereby give you notice that on the 31st day of March
A.D. 1906, in the City of Fort WOrth, J. J. Sullivan, while stand-
ing on what is known as the White Settlement bridge, over the Clear
Fork River, said bridge being in the Northwest part of the City of
Fort Worth and within the corporation limits of said City, leaned
against one of the railings or bannisters, on the side of said bridge
and that said railing or bannister, gave way, on account of its de-
fective condition, through the negligence of said City, precipitat-
ing him head foremost, to the ground below, said distance being some
18 to 20 feet. That he was hurt, bruised and mased in and about
both hands, also in and about his legs, ars, back, chest, lungs,
sides, hips and shoulds; That he was also badly out and bruised,
in and about his face and head, all of which injuries as before
stated, were caused by the said railing giving way and throwing him
to the ground below, as above set forth, for all of which injuries,
he claims damages against the City of Fort Worth, in the sum of $5000
