Ft.Worth, Texas, Sept.10th, 1907.

Hon. The Mayor and Board of Commissioners,
Fort Worth, Texas.

Gentlemen:-

The undersigned respectfully suggest
that in the past a very large proportion of the
property owners on Front Street from the Union
Station East to the city limits, signed petitions
asking that said street be paved with vitrified
brick on a concrete base. In addition to those
signing such petitions, Mr.L.S.Thorne, Vice President
& General Manager of the T.& P.R'y assured the then
City Engineer in an official typewritten document,
that his road would pay for the paving with
vitrified brick in front of their property.

As there now seems to be on foot, a
move on the part of several of the property owners
on Front Street to have paving other than vitrified brick
laid, and as your honorable body is now doubtless
about to advertise for bids for paving, we most earnestly
request that the terms of such advertisement be
such as to request bids on the various sorts of
pavement generally bid upon in our City, including
vitrified brick. All specifications, of course, to
be prepared by your City Engineer.

We understand that the Street Railway
Company are wholly in favor of brick for their part
of the work, and we further understand that it will
take said Street Railway Company at least three months
to secure the new rails, which must necessarily
be laid prior to the construction of pavement on said
street. It is therefore quite evident that no great haste
is necessary in the mater of receiving bids.

Very respectfully yours

General Supply and Construction Co.
By John B. Hawley
V.P.& Chief Engineer.
