Hon. Sam Davidson, Commissioner,
Ft. Worth,
Dear Sir:-
I notice from the press that the City Council has passed
favorably upon the appointment of a City Pure Food and Dairy Inspector.
I should like to submit my application for the place if I can meet the
requirements. I have been much interested in the pure food question
for the past year inasmuch as I was knocked out of actibe business some
time ago by getting a dose of poisoned can goods and have recently been
in correspondence with Representative Blanton of Gainesville and Mr.
Abbott of Denton, who has been in our city several times recently in-
specting milk, etc. In talking with Mr. Abbott last week he tells me
that so far as the city inspection is concerned, but few articles for
analyzing would be needed as I would work in conjunction with him
at Denton and generally send any articles of food coming under sus-
picion, to him there.
As there seems to have been some discussion between Mr.Abbott and
The Commission as to the necessary appropriation, I would say that the
compensation would be of much less moment to me than seeing the law
enforced. If the Council select a man in the near future and con-
sider my application I can furnish such city references and bond as
might be required.
Very truly,
C.T.Burns.
