Mr. W. J. Estes, City Secretary, City.
Dear Sir:-
Enclosed herewith plasae find bill for $50.00 account subscription November and December to this Bureau. Will thank you to submit same for approval of the Board of Commissioners and favor us with check for the amount.
in this connection, I wish to suggest that as the city is no doubt frequently receiving shipments of material and supplies from eastern territory it might be well to consult this officer in reference to routing before giving shipping directions, for the reason that a great many of the lines do not participate in through rates but on business moving over their rails base charges on a combination of local rates, which often is considerably higher than through rates. This might be the means of saving considerable amounts at times in freight charges. This office is at all times in position to advise which lines participate in through rates and the routing instructions which should be given in order to obtain the lowest rates and will be glad to have the proper official call upon us for information on this or other matters as often as occasion may make it desirable.
Yours truly, US Paweett
