Fort Worth Light & Power Co., Ft. Worth, Texas.
Dear Sirs:
I return my February light bill, and will again ask you to see if it is not made for too much. The bill has been the same for three months, and nearly as much previous to that time, during which time we have used the lights freely one month and very sparingly another, with the same results when the bill is presented. The gas bill you have within reason this month, as it has been used but little.
I may say that unless you see fit to remit the light bills to a reasonable amount I shall discontinue your service, and as for the gas, it is a convenience and not a necessity.
I may say further, that I have preserved the correspondence I have been compelled to have with you concerning these matters recently, and intend to furnish it to the City Commission as an individual instance of your continued imposition on a long suffering public.
Yours truly,

Dear Sirs:
Referring to the enclosed bill for gas heater and 34 ft. pipe, the stove was purchased, to be installed without cost. On the bill for fuel gas, we are not using gas for cooking, and the heater has been used but little, so that this charge is very much more than it should be. On the charge for lights, we of course burn more this season of the year, but $6.00 for one months lights in a place that size is out of the question.
Kindly make correction and return me the bills by the 8th. and they will be paid: do not send them to the house without correction by an impudent collector, as they will not be paid there.
Thanking you in the matter,
Yours truly, JF Lyons

Dear Sir:
In answer to the attached we find upon investigationt hat your meter readings on both your gas and electric lights are correct as shown on your bill of December, 1907. Our man also reports that he examined and found no leak in the gas meter. Regarding the bill for one cone heater, the price of these heaters are $3.75 without any piping. Our charge for running pipw where we set these heaters is 12 1/2¢ per foot and the bill of $8.00 for heater and plumbing for same is correct.
Please give us your check to cover and oblige,
Yours truly, FORT WORTH LIGHT & POWER CO.

Dear Sirs:
In reply to yours of the 10th. I dont understand how you cna verify a meter reading without going to the meter to reread it. You also have a report that no leak was found in the gas. There is a leak, but no attention seems to be paid to requests by phone to have such stopped. Regarding the heater, it was purchased at a price, instaled, and there is no good reason why you should now demand more than double that price for it, nor for gas gas and lights not consumed. I think you will find from your books my accounts have been paid promptly each month, unless delayed for correction once in a while, but in view of the unreasonable and unsatisfactory way you undertake to carry on your business, I should just about as soon not have your service.
Yours truly,

Personal Mr. J. C. Lord, Manager, Fort Worth Light & Power Co., Fort Worth, Texas.
Dear Sirs:---
Concerning the action of your company in cutting off my gas and lights, because of my refusal to pay the February light bill untill corrected to proper basis, I am addressing this letter to you personally as an honest business man. Probably this instance did not come under your personal observation and I will explain to you. In the first place, I have been a customer of your company for both gas and lights for a number of years. I have paid you promptly and, on numerous occasions, when there was every evidence that the bill was excessive - have paid when your meter reader could not have gotten into the house. My light bill was rendered for December, January and February at $6.00 to $6.15 - higher than ever before. One of these months the lights were used freely, another sparingly, with the same result at the end of the month. On March 4th I returned the February bill asking an investigation and correction to proper bases. The reply to this was a premptory demand on March 20th by the collector for payment as rendered or have both gas and lights cut off that day. I had in the meantime, in view of these excessive bills, which I had before asked corrected, requested the Citizens company, of whom I have heard no complaint of excessive charges, to give me their lights. They did so the day yours were cut out. The
