Hon. W.D.Harris Mayor,
Messrs. Mulkey, Colvin,
Davidson & Stephens, Commissioners,
City.
Gentlemen:
For the past few days I have been sick at home, and
unable to leave my room, but I can look out over the Street
that has just been paved in spots and see what a sight it
presents. The water has been dammed up along Hemphill Street,
between Laurel and Bellevue much worse than it ever was when
we simply had the old original muddy street. Some three or
four or five years ago, by dent of persuasion we succeeded in
getting the Street Commissioner to put in a wooden box at the
intersection of Hemphill and Bellevue and this ran the water
off the Steet down through Bellevue, eastwardly from
Hemphill. It would seem from the construction of this Street
now that no provision whatever has been made for draining
the Street. If there is, it is not effective, and I write to
ask you, in behalf of myself and other property owners who
have had paving done in front of our premisses to have the
City Engineer undertake to remedy this situation.
Those of us who have had this paving done are very
anxious that you should pass some ordinance that will com-
pel otherss on the Street to have the paving done. On each side
of us, there are vacant spaces and the Street presents a
much worse conditions as to mud and back water than it ever
