#16 [Hard rain] today 45 Saturday, January 16, 1897 55 up. 8:30 office 9:30 am and began to work on [Real?] [Estate?] [matters?] and my [books?] and hard at it all the morning. To PO at 12 and began No. 16 and [wrote?] [4 pm] Then home thro heavy rain and had dinner and back to my office and at work till [illegible] and then to [illegible] office and home to supper Arguments 8-9 office and issues in [DC No.] 1 and finished [Real?] [Estates?] and left office at 2 am [then P.O.] for home and to bed at 3 am

Cool day 45 Sunday, January 17, 1897 [illegible] up 8 am arrived at church at 11 am [illegible] [illegible] to P.O. and [illegible] to my clerks office and work on no 6 [Then] [to] Capt. Loyd's and home at 2:30 pm dinner then [Mr. C A] came [illegible] and I [illegible] for the [illegible] a strong cold north wind [came] blowing [vestry meeting?] 4 pm back to my office at 5 pm and work until 6 and walked to PO and depot and [worked?] my letters on [corner?] [(Rusk)?] I take [changes?] to 2pm. Home to supper office till 12 am an back to office till after 2 am Home and to bed 2:30 am

#17 [illegible] #12 [Ice] [Cold?] [night] [slush] and [rain] 10:30 pm 30 Monday, January 18, 1897 50 up 7 am [finding?] [lines?] [out] and office 9 am and at [home] began work on [Ross's?] [books] [organized] kept [illegible] until 1 pm and [then to] PO and found No. 12. Clerks office then Loyd's and home to [dinner?] [and] back to my office and hard at work all the afternoon [then?] and at [Ross's?] office and at my office till nearly 2 pm and then to supper after supper at [Auguest's] 8-9. Then office and there till 12. and [I am?] [having?] supper to PO and home and to bed 1 am [illegible] [illegible] stand all night.

[Illegible] Rained and [snowed] all day 36 Tuesday, January 19, 1897 50 up 7:45 am Robert slept in [illegible] room last [night] with [him] at office 9:30 am and [read] papers and then finished Ross's [illegible] up [illegible] and around to his office [illegible] and [then] dinner. Began snowing [illegible] 12:15 pm and snowed hard nearly all the afternoon but it [melted] [rapidly] on the streets and little was left [but] slush by nightfall [report?] on [taxes?] of [houses] and [illegible] fence corners PO 12 [Mr] Turner [illegible] had [illegible] [margins illegible]

Terribly [windy?]and slushy 35 Wednesday, January 20, 1897 50 up 8 am. Eliza [Ord?] not [home] so [Alberta?] had to cook breakfast At my office 9:30 am and read papers and then to P.O. and got my [illegible] 13 [illegible] Mr. J.D [illegible] [Ourah! ?] in my office and then to Mrs. Turner's and found her out so left [illegible] letters with [Sanford?]. Back [hurry?] office [an?] [hour?] to [run?] through [illegible] [illegible]. Back [illegible] office [illegible] 2:30 and finished #18 begun this morning and at 6:15 went to depot and [mailed?] it. Supper [Arguments?] 8:20-9 [his?] office and over Mr. J.D.[illegible] [returning] carbon copy for [illlegible] Home 1:30 and in bed at nearly 2 am
