Braceville, O Dec., 6th '94

Dear Cousin Edith:

Your long expected letter came to hand yesterday. I had almost ceased to look for one, and realizing that procrastination is the thief of time, I will embrace the first opportunity to, at least, begin a letter. If that letter of yours is a sample of haste, I think you had better always write in a hurry. Now, I know you would smile out loud if you could look in on the scene, as I am seated to write with one three year old

girl and a 4 mo. old baby seated at the writing table. Ethel is giving baby, Dorotha, music lessons and shaking the table and baby is looking as dignified as a judge. I will describe her she has blue eyes, light hair, (or none at all, just as you choose), and is plump as a pumpkin, vary fair and pretty, of course, and can be, people say she looks like me and that accounts for her beauty to be shure (?). Then you will know what work is with a house to care for and social duties crowding on you. Last Sunday, I almost

took the place of a minister and, during our protracted meeting, I attended every night, but four nights during the three wks. and sang solos. Of course, the children don't go to church. I have not been without a girl a wk. I think since baby come. The help I now have is in the morning & after 4 o'clock in the afternoon & on Sats. Girl stays all night and takes care of baby evenings. ^She is such a good, lovely girl.^ One wk. during our meeting, I baked 15 loaves of bread from Sat. to Sat, so you can have an idea how much has to be prepared for the table. Grant went to Southington
